The Overcoat
在彼得堡，外套——是生死攸关的大事。
小文员阿卡基攒尽所有，只为做一件新外套。新外套本该是他新生活的起点，没曾想第一天夜里就被人抢走。他一路寻找，处处碰壁，最后被折磨得急火攻心，悄无声息死于扁桃体发炎。离奇的是，阿卡基死后，变成了专抢人外套的鬼。彼得堡的冬夜，从此多了一个荒唐又可怕的幽灵……
In Saint Petersburg, an overcoat is no trivial matter — it is a question of life and death.
A humble clerk, Akaky Akakievich, saves every last coin to commission a new overcoat. It is meant to mark the beginning of a new life. Yet on the very first night, it is stolen.
What follows is a desperate search: door after door closes, plea after plea is ignored. Worn down by humiliation and despair, he falls gravely ill and dies quietly, undone by a simple inflammation of the throat.
But the story does not end there.
In a grotesque twist, Akaky returns as a ghost — haunting the streets and snatching overcoats from unsuspecting passersby. From that moment on, the winter nights of Saint Petersburg are no longer empty, but stalked by an absurd and chilling presence.
